Simple as That Sunscreen

Let’s start with this one as I’m a wee bit obsessed and it’s coming up to the time of year where sun protection is super important.  If you’ve dabbled with natural sunscreen before, you will know that the truly mineral sunscreens on the market seem to be either super greasy and oily (not a good situation when sand is involved either), or leave your skin a rather unflattering shade of chalk white!  I’ve spent my fair share of time in either one of the two situations, due to perservering with mineral sunscreens (which is totally worth doing, see blog post here) which is why I was very, VERY excited to find this sunscreen by Simple as That.  In my eyes, it is THE perfect sunscreen.  It goes on easily, is light-weight and a little goes a long way.  It also doesn’t leave your skin looking white (FINALLY!  I do not need any help in that department!)  It is far from being oily and greasy, in fact it actually has a mattifying effect on the skin  – making it perfect for facial use, which was the main issue I had with mineral sunscreens before – I just couldn’t find something that I was happy to put on in the morning every day.  It is SPF30, and safe for the whole family to use.  Yep I love it, and I’d love for you to try it too if you’ve had less than perfect experiences with natural sunscreen in the past!  That’s why I’ve added the option of purchasing samples to my site too, here.

Fair & Square Shampoo Bar

With an ingredients list boasting the likes of kukui nut oil, jojoba, shea butter, coconut, olive oil and avocado, it’s easy to see why this shampoo bar is a pretty luxurious one to use!  We are all becoming so much more aware of the effect even the most conscious beauty products have on the environment that this for me is an easy switch to make for a greener bathroom.  I also find that when I use it I don’t seem to need to use a conditioner afterwards, so it’s fab.  I love it!  Fair & Square products are proudly made in Waipu, Northland too!  You can find the shampoo bar here.

The Beauty Chef Collagen Inner Beauty Boost

Just the other week, I turned the tender age of… 32.  I wouldn’t have minded, but I was so convinced I was turning 31 so it was a bit of rude awakening (I swear my brain is fried since having 3 kids – I don’t know where that extra year went!).  I can remember when I was younger wondering why on earth women older than me, like my mum were so concerned about ageing and wrinkles.  I didn’t see what the problem was and always thought I would be happy being whatever age I was as that’s just who/what you were – wrinkles and all!  But I’d be lying if now that I am in my 30’s there is a niggle of concern at the ageing process, and getting, and looking older (tips on how to accept this welcome please!)  I’m not losing sleep over it, I just don’t particularly want to… well, age!  I am also a firm believer that even when using the best skincare products, without complementing them with a nourishing diet, getting enough sleep and drinking lots of water, you aren’t going to be looking the absolute best you can.  Sleep is out for me as it doesn’t agree with the 2/3rds of my boys (haha), and currently my diet is the wrong end of 80/20 – which is why after reading the review one of our lovely customers posted on the Collagen supplement I thought this might be my best bet to give me a boost!  The product is aimed at “addressing skin firmness, fine lines, free-radical damage and aiding skin maintenance” so it had me sold.

Okay, this is turning into an essay so here is a quick run down on why I love the product.  Firstly – it takes amazing (and not in an “amazing” kind of way like matcha green tea, but in a genuine YUM way).  It is a delicious fruity flavour, and pretty sweet – you can mix it into water for a delicious cordial type drink or it’s totally nice enough to drink straight from the spoon!  I was so pleasantly surprised as I just know I wouldn’t have continued with the product if it was hard to drink as I’m a bit useless with things like that (at the moment at least!)  Secondly, it’s vegan.  I’m not vegan (yet anyway) but I like that it’s suitable for our many vegan customers.  It’s also super healthy.  The ingredients list includes maqui berry (no I don’t know what that is either haha), acai, papaya, blueberry, goji-berry and pomegranate powders with grape-seed extract, zinc and vitamin C.  It also contains more than six-billion naturally occurring prebiotics and probiotics per 15ml serve so that’s your probiotics sorted too!  I’ve just read on the product description too that it is great to complement one of their ‘Inner Beauty Powders’ so I might give the ‘Glow’ one a try too as it seems to be super popular with customers!  As for results, I am noticing a positive difference and am definitely going to keep using it!  You can find this product here.

Tailor Renew

After trying and loving the Beauty Chef Probiotic Skin Refiner last month it gave me renewed (no pun intended) interest in probiotics in skincare!  The Renew serum is insanely lovely.  It has a gorgeous scent, and is the perfect light creamy consistency to absorb well before applying a moisturising cream.  I have been using it every morning underneath the below moisturiser and have been loving it!  Renew is a fantastic anti-ageing serum and is also meant to be super helpful if you have breakout prone skin.  I don’t think there will ever be a Tailor product I don’t love.  You can find this product here.

Skin Juice ‘Good Juice’

Have you seen the Skin Juice range before?  No doubt it has or will catch your eye with it’s brightly coloured products and enticing names!  It’s certainly what first attracted me to the Aussie-made brand but the products definitely do have substance!  Continuing on with my probiotic buzz I chose to try Skin Juice’s ‘Good Juice’ this month, which is suitable for all skin types.  You can just tell this is a super healthy product to use as it smells (if you’re after something that smells like roses, this isn’t it) kinda like veges – and with ingredients like brocolli, basil and and avocado it’s little wonder.  The cream itself is actually green too!  I am really liking this as a day cream.  I have tried the ‘Flower Juice’ from the range before but it was a bit rich for my skin (even though I so wanted it to be perfect for me as it smells amazing!) but this one is awesome and feels nourishing without being too heavy for my skin at all.  Containing colloidal oatmeal, it helps soothe sensitivity, redness and inflammation and also retain moisture with sea buckthorn, hyaluronic acid and honestly so many other amazing ingredients!  You can find this face cream here.
