Alice Tries…‘Goodness’ Every Evening Cream

Guest blogger, Alice, tries out the night cream from this new New Zealand brand…

Every now and then, a new skincare line will emerge that gets me all excited. Usually such a brand will be simplistic, quirky, New Zealand based and of course, comprised of natural goodness. Cue Goodness Natural Beauty Lab, the latest natural skincare line to hit our shelves.

Now if you’ve been paying attention (or even if you haven’t), you will know that “super foods” are HUGE right now. Amongst the best of them is the humble chia seed, also star ingredient in Goodness’ humble five product offering: the leading product is undeniably the certified organic chia seed oil and supported by the every morning moisturiser, every evening cream, every day cream cleanser and the every week face scrub. Check out all the product information on their website, here.

I was sent a jar of Goodness’ every evening cream (RRP $24 for 60mls) which contains a blend of honeysuckle flower extract, chia seed, avocado and coconut oils, so that you will “wake to a high five from your skin” (or so their clever yet cheeky marketing campaign claims anyway).   The packaging also states that chia seed oil contains a perfect 3:1 ratio of omega 3 to omega 6. Could chia seed oil be the new rosehip oil?

Now a reliable nourishing night cream is a must have for me at the moment. My skin has slowly transitioned away from inherent oiliness to being a touch of dry – the sharp winter cold certainly hasn’t helped. And nothing is more disappointing than playing around with new products to find they just don’t deliver the moisture my skin needs during the night.

Does Goodness deliver the goods? Yes! Goodness’ every evening cream is an absolute gem: the cream is luxuriously thick, rich and creamy without being greasy. The non-greasy formulation is what makes this cream a winner in my eyes – I am currently in love with my staple night cream which is similarly natural, New Zealand made and oil based but a little bit greasy. Greasy might not even be the right word but basically it takes a wee while to absorb and I’m scared it will get all over my pillow. My “pillow smear” fears are alleviated when using Goodness’ every evening cream and at less than half the price of what I pay for my current night cream, I am very very very tempted to repurchase and make Goodness’s every evening cream my staple product. Thankfully I have a good supply of both Goodness and my usual so I don’t need to make this hard decision, just yet!

I would definitely say go out and grab a jar to try. If you can’t tell, I am so loving this product right now.

Oh and in case you needed instructions: Remove make-up. Apply. Sleep. Wake. Repeat after 15-18 hours (that cheeky marketing is rather endearing).
