Review: Karen Murrell’s Pink Starlet

Guest blogger, Jane, tries out ‘Pink Starlet’ by Karen Murrell Natural Lipsticks…

To me the colour ‘Pink’ conjures up a wishy-washy, fairy colour that I wouldn’t want to put near my slightly olive skinned face, so I had reservations about reviewing the lipstick ‘Pink Starlet’. I needn’t have worried as this is a more self-assured, deep pink with a hint of blue to ground it, which would complement a wide range of skin tones.

This lipstick is a delight to use! From the clever ‘nothing nasty touches my lips’ statement encircling the sophisticated matt black cylinder to the outstanding performance, it’s proof that good things come in little packages. The enticing spicy-sweet smell had me sniffing at the tube between use, in fact I’d wear it if it was released as a fragrance! Application is smooth and even, leaving no stickiness or unnatural shine and the feel is undetectable, like having naturally soft, conditioned, colourful lips. The colour has great staying power – even the ultimate lipstick challenge of eating failed to eradicate it completely. Not quite as persistent as some of the dye-type products but I’m not prepared to endure their dry feel and toxic chemical load.
I really tried to find some niggling negative in the name of a balanced review but if there is one, it eluded me. I’m still not a complete convert to pink-worship but I’ll definitely be exploring the other colours in the range.
